Nigeria Desk publishes practical information for readers who want to understand a service, make a comparison or complete an everyday task in Nigeria. This policy guides how we prepare and maintain that information.
Readers Come First
We begin with the question the reader is asking. A guide should explain the relevant requirements, options, steps and limitations in clear language. It should distinguish a confirmed fact from an estimate, interpretation or recommendation.
Sources And Verification
For rules, application processes, fees and service instructions, we prioritise current information from the organisation responsible. Other reliable material may help provide context. We assess the date, scope and relevance of a source rather than assuming that a page is current because it can be found online.
Where a claim cannot be established, we should explain the uncertainty or leave the claim out. We do not describe an application window, grant, recruitment exercise or product offer as open without current supporting information.
Original Writing
Our content should answer the reader’s question in our own words. We do not present copied articles, invented first-hand experience, fabricated quotations or unsupported statistics as original reporting. Tools may support research, drafting and editing, but the publisher remains responsible for what is published.
Prices, Dates And Location
Prices and charges can differ by provider, place and transaction type. Where relevant, a guide should identify the applicable period and conditions, and make clear whether a figure is an official charge, advertised offer, estimate or example.
Publication and update dates appear on articles. An update date should reflect a meaningful review or revision, not a cosmetic change made to suggest that old information is new.
Corrections
We review credible reports of errors. Material mistakes should be corrected, and a clarification or correction note should be added when readers need to understand a substantive change. Our Corrections Policy explains how to report an issue.
Commercial Independence
Advertising, sponsorship and affiliate relationships must be identifiable. A payment should not be presented as independent editorial judgement. Paid placement does not give an advertiser control over unrelated editorial content.
Personal Decisions And Official Services
Our guides provide general information. They do not replace personalised professional advice or the decision of the organisation responsible for a service. We do not guarantee an application outcome, account decision, return or approval.
